Well, I've rolled off of my latest assignment. We finished on
time, and it was actually a little slow the past two weeks—just
a few cleanup items.
We had hit a few rough patches on this project and for a while
were slipping behind. But everyone pitched in and moved us
back onto schedule. "Teamwork" sometimes seems like a cliche, but
it described the project well.
Good management, sufficient staffing, and a good, experienced team
also helped to make the difference.
There was another important factor: A hard deadline. The
go-live date was calculated long ago to fit in with an even larger
project. We had to finish on time. This was a "real" deadline,
not one determined by throwing darts at a calendar.
Knowing that "failure is not an option" is a great
motivator to finish, well, even a little early.
I'm looking forward to a few weeks off before looking for
another assignment, but if you happen to know of a project that could
use me, please let me know!
Debugger version 1.6.2
The next version of the SQR debugger should be released late
this week or over the weekend. This will be an important release and
I recommend that all customers upgrade to it. When you see the
notification at the bottom of the first screen, log on from the
home page and download the new version. It takes only a couple
of minutes, but if you have a site license,
you can even save a little time by redistributing sqrdebug.exe and sqrdebug.chm
to your users. You don't need to reinstall your license key.
