Lightly technical observations on PeopleSoft and related topics

June 21, 2006

Busy in the PeopleSoft Marketplace

It's been a rather busy week around here, so I won't have very much to say in today's post. You and I both get a little break this week.

However, I've noticed what seems like a pretty brisk demand for technical and contracting services related to PeopleSoft upgrades and new setups. This is a completely unscientific observation, but I've been pummeled with contacts from recruiters lately. Are you seeing the same thing?

Happily, I'm currently on an interesting project with a terrific client. (It's an unconventional HCM 8.9 upgrade.) But it's good to see how much has changed from a couple of years ago, when it seemed as if Oracle wanted to acquire PeopleSoft just to squash it. At the time, many of us were wondering whether we'd have any work to do. We now have Oracle's offer of indefinite support and enhancement of PeopleSoft products. How much of that is really related to the PeopleSoft line, and how much is related to progress on the Fusion project, is open to speculation...

Next week: Being happy about bugs. Sort of.

Until next time...
